Bringing your emotions to God in prayer
When you are at the bottom of the barrel and don’t know who to turn to, what do you do? Go on a long walk? Bury yourself in you music? Crawl into a hidey-hole?
This Sunday I will be preaching from Jeremiah 20. In this chapter he is having a really, really, really bad day. So he prays. And in his prayer he rants, he sings and he wishes he’d never been born. He gives it absolutely all to God.
I think we need to do that more. Give God all of our emotions, every single one. Why wait until we “straighten ourselves out” to go to God? Let God help us in our hardest times. His shoulders are big enough.
